At 24, is it too late to be a professional pool player?

I just started playing pool and I have a natural feel for the game. I have no problem pocketing the ball etc. The problem is I just started playing 4 mos ago and I'm now 24. If I really concentrate on this sport, is still there a chance that I can someday be a professional pool player? Or is it too late. Hope the experts can give me some advice.

  1. I turn 60 with both Bill Clinton and George Bush....and unlike either one of these guys I have always said that " that as old dog I have to always be ready to learn new tricks"....I believe that and if I only had the time (meaning money to take care of life) I seriously think that I could be as good as I wanted...."I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm good at least once".....do not think that way either I think that I can be good all of the time....as a 24 year old you have much more going for you then I do.....I have your login and will remember it .....COMMIT yourself to work on the game and the first time that you make it on TV....you give me credit for the "push".....if you want it you can get it!!.....correction I don't have your login so when you give me credit Identify your self as *****

  2. Age has nothing to do with your ability to excel in a sport especially if you have ''a natural feel for the game".  I started playing golf at the age of 50 (I am not a professional) and I can give younger players (players half my age) a run for their money.  It boils down to one thing though - lots of practise.  All the best in your endeavours.

  3. There was a young woman who went to the same college I did a few years after I graduated. She learned to play pool on the bar tables in the basement of the dorm, and was a pro by the time she graduated from college.

  4. I hear Corey Deuel started playing in his late teens and went pro less than two years after he first picked up a pool cue. As others have said, age is hardly a factor in pool. It helps to have an early start (Loree Jon Jones and Jasmin Ouschan both started very early), but it's not a necessity.  Good luck to you.

  5. As the gentleman said it is never to late to start it is more about how dedicated you are to the sport. You also should know you have to as quickly as possible get past the concept of there only being a straight line between the object ball and the desired pocket. Best of luck in your endevors.

  6. By the time you are 26-28, you should be ready, maybe sooner if you got a good teacher, or lose a lot of money for experience. Good luck though, and alwys play someone better.

  7. Pro and con

pro you are old enough to know that you don't know everything. Go get a good coach NOW before the bad habits start.

con is time. As a kid I could spend an abnormal amount of time just shooting pool.  Not working, no kids, on wife, no bills to pay. No distractions. Starting at 24 these do come to play.

As far as the actual age thing physically you should have no prob developing a good game but remember to be a player who has been there done that just plain takes time.

  8. never too late, but a pro, thats what you wanna be lol. strive to be a gambler. i great road player makes double to triple the amount a pro does looking at it from a yearly point of view. so get your game right, get your bankroll right, or if your good enough, get your self a trust worthy stakehorse, and start gambling. you gotta build up your nerve and your character to be a great road player. h**l come down to the carolina's we give expensive lessons all the time !

  9. Its not to late but a real good time to start

Just why pro there is no money in it compared to being a road player.or just a junkie in a local room pros dont make the kind of money you would think they do,
