At French camp sites, what plug is used for electric hook up & what voltage is it?

The voltage  is 240v but, depending, on how you will be availing yourself of the French electric supply. If you are going to a ready erected tent/mobile home then you just need the type of adaptor which plugs into the sockets in your "home" which you can get from all sorts of places including House of Frazer, etc.  If, however, you are taking your own caravan then you will need an adaptor which plugs into the campsite electricity supply and these can be bought at any good camping or caravan  dealer. You do not then need an adaptor to plug into your caravan sockets. HOWEVER, the french are well known for getting their polarity "back to front" in campsites and so I always go equipped with a polarity-tester jsu to make sure that things are as they should be.

Obviousely the French plug :-) Serious! If you are American or English, bring an adaptor from back home since they are not easily available in France. 220 V, 6 - 16 Amps, depending on the camp site. Happy travelling!
