Question:

At MEPS can you "suck it in"?

I'm going to be taped at MEPS I think. I'm still working on it, but about 3 lbs off of my target weight. When taped what's the body position. Arms out, stomach sucked in? Is it true I want a thick neck and thin (as possible) stomach for the ratio to work out. Any tricks anyone can recommend?

  1. The army compares height and weight and use various other measurements for those people whose bone and muscle build might skew their BMI readings based on height and weight alone.  The posture for all measurements will be dictated by the nurse.  The best place to target for measurements is the waist because it will be easier to lose inches there.  Instead of targeting areas measured, try losing more body fat to help all measurements.  Try increasing your exercise.  Even if you are doing some exercising, convert more leisure time, like watching TV, to walking in a mall.  You will lose weight by burning calories and doing a little more to prepare your legs for basic training.  Also, try putting more liquids in your diet.  If you can drink more water, juice, milk, and healthy drinks like Ensure and Slim-Fast, then you will feel full with minimal calories, lots of nutrition, and lots of liquid that will easily pass through your system.

  2. You can lose 3 lbs by then! Exercise and eat right. I've been 10 pounds off and still passed. Just remember that if you get in you have to maintain a healthy weight or they'll try to kick you out!

  3. Your best bet is to lose the weight.

The people doing the taping know all the tricks.

  4. Yes you can.  Suck it in hard and bring your shoulders up and chin down for a thicker neck.

  5. Cut out carbs for a week and dont drink water.
