At Wendy's when you order a Southwest Taco Salad why do they put the chili on the lettuce?

It would seem that that dressing should go on the lettuce then the chips then the chili after that. If you ask them to put the chili separate they will put it in a cup for you. Why wouldn't they just do that anyway so you could have your salad they way you would like? Are they just trying to save a cup?

Yeah, I would rather put the chili on myself too. If you get it to go they always put it in a cup. I think they are just trying to be cheap and save a cup like you said. I hate it when they only give you one packet of salad dressing. I always have to ask for two because one only covers half the salad.

the menu item is designed and followed. you are the one who wants the salad a certain way, and not the way the store is advertising and selling, so be thankful they put the chili in a cup on request. they are going an extra step, just for you. now, don't you feel lucky?
