Question:

At Wimbledon 2008, Not one of the Number 1 seeds won a title. Has this happened before at Wimbledon?

Even in the Championship finals, it was seldom that the better seeded player won. Men's final; #2 beat #1; Women's final: #7 beat #6; Girls' final: unseeded beat #3, and so on. I think only in the Women's Doubles and Men's doubles did the better seeds win.

  1. I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Ana only entered one event so she only was going after one title. Same with Roger. If you're saying a #1 seed has never won a Wimbledon title, that's wrong.

    But usually you're right. The higher seeds usually do well than the lower seeds, but this time it was pretty bad. I think I heard this was the first time that none of top #3 seeds made it to the second week in the open era.
