My husband told me the drivers that don't have the dip have the right of way, but I've seen some corners with no lights or stop signs and no dips.

  1. The person who pulls up to the stop sign first has the right of way. If two people pull up to the stop sign at the same time the person to your right has the right of way.. (easy way to remember, right has the right... of way)

All posters who said left have the right of way are wrong -2 on your written drivers test for you! *ding*

  2. In most States it is the first person to arrive at the intersection.  It is also the person on the right, if two cars arrive at the same time.  When multiple cars arrive simultaneously, drivers should treat the intersection as if it were a 'four way stop' and the person on the right has the right of way first.  Common courtesy dictates that someone has to be first, and a good way to be 'safe', is to wave the other driver on, and allow him to go first.  You'll only lose a couple of seconds, and both of you will feel better.

  3. You never have the right of way unless someone gives it to you!

Usually the driver on the right should be given the right of way anytime two or more drivers reach the same intersection (4 way stop or uncontrolled) at the same time.

  4. The first vehicle to reach the intersection should move forward first.

If two vehicles reach the intersection at the same time, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right.

  5. I believe it is the person to the left of you.

  6. The person who gets there first has the right of way.  Or if you both arrive at the same time, the person on your right goes first.  That's why it's called the 'right' of way...I think.

  7. Dips have nothing to do with it.  The right has the right.

  8. The vehicle that gets to the intersection first has the right of way, or if unsure, the person to the right goes first.

Usually though its whoever has the bigger vehicle.

What's a dip got to do with the right of way?

  9. The car on the right has the right of way.
