  1. yes, price does not change.

  2. do you pay by the day or week?

  3. It varies from child care to child care.  You just have to ask.  Now in mine, no, I don't charge on days that I'm not open.  I don't look down on anyone that does though :-)  On the business side of things...I probably should be...but it wasn't that long ago that I had my child in child care and when I didn't have work that day...I didn't get paid...so paying a "holiday" for child care when my child wasn't present and I wasn't working...was not possible.  We live out in the country in a low-income area and therefor I don't feel that I can do this to my families because there will be quite a few that were in the same boat that I was...not at work...don't get paid.

  4. If you are paying by the week then the price should not change just because the center is not open.  Any all differences in the charges that occur should be spelled out in the written agreement between the parties.   As a babysitter, I did not get paid different on the days he stayed on because the center was closed but I did get a differential on the days I watched his school aged brother when the school was closed.

  5. The home day care should have all this written in their contracts with the parents and/or their parent handbook. It needs to be very clear and pointed out to the parents when they sign up, maybe even initialed. Even then a parent will possibly question it.

  6. Usually, yes. You should also expect to pay if your child is absent because of illness or other family reasons. There should be a written contract that clearly explains payment policies.
