At a masquerade ball.... what activities would you wish to participate in?

I am hosting a masquearde ball, and it is partially a sit down dinner. However, i need to keep my guests occupied, what are some activities that are relevant to both the venetian setting and the time period.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You won't want anything too strenuous or potentially messy if people are in costume.

    I believe that cards and dice were popular pastimes in this period. Music and poetry as well.


  2. Maybe come up with some riddles for everyone to solve, like the "who am I?" game?

    I second the idea for the "Who Am I?" game done with period characters.

    Also Charades or Win Lose or Draw, both done with Venetian setting and period phrases such as, "canal" and "gondola."
