  1. They rarely actually say Hike.  Hut is often used in the cadence.  It will very depending on teams.


  2. The quarterback is suppossed to call "Hike" when he wants the center to toss the football between his legs to the quarterback, otherwise known as a snap.

    When a quarterback says "Hut" it's usually intended to rattle a defense. They hear the "H-" and they jump- trying to gain an advantage. After all, linemen in the NFL can be like to 6-6" 350 lbs.
