Question:

At home or at airport parking lot?

Would my vehicle be safer at home in my apt complex lot or at an airport parking lot while I go on vacation. I'm going away for five days and a shuttle service can't get me there in time. I'm paranoid about my vehicle. I'm considering one way car rental as well. Anyone have any trouble parking their vehicle?

  1. Depends what car you have and who wants it.  A POS car is safer anywhere than the hottest-thing-on-wheels, but take off points for a bad neighborhood with most people driving POS cars and they want to steal parts off yours. Maybe the parking lot is safer with lots of folks coming and going all the time and a fence all around.

At home, however, you can ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on it while you're gone.

  2. If you can afford it, I'd suggest the lot.  (That's what I do.)

The long term lots have periodic security patrols.  I doubt that your apartment complex does; plus, people would know you are away.

Just be sure to remove any and all items that might seem attractive (and easily accessible) to thieves.  Take your parking ticket with you.

  3. airport parking lot, there is security there.  I have left my car several times at an airport for at least a week.  much safer I think than leaving it at your apartments.  Also you won't have to worry about getting a ride home.

  4. depends where you live... if you're on a good neighborhood, it's best to just leave your car at your apartment complex.. parking at the airport is safe, but can get expensive depending on how long you're going to be away.. should u decide the latter, go to the economy parking it's cheaper than long-term
