there is always an entrance fee to pay to watch the competition, thats o.k. but now the event organisers have started charging for parents to take photos of their kids during the competition, approx £8, is this legal ?

  1. guess they're trying to discourage the unsavoury types

  2. Hi Jayebird,

Have you asked the council if you could waived this ?   As far as far as the legality goes.  In California you cannot take photos of kids without parents permission.

To me its just a money making venture from this organization.   You do have a choice to find another venue that might be more to your comfort zone.

Good Luck and hoping the best for you.

  3. No, its not a legal requirement at council owned premises, because you , as a member of the public, already own the premises as a council tax-payer, and hence ,also their wages. They actually have a legal requirement to  have Public liability cover - displayed- , , also a Health & Safety assesment should be made to ensure the area is adequate for the requirements- - and Adult supervision is visible.  The photo idea is just to try to cover there *****, in case of "nasty people".  Photos are allowed at any council playing grounds, ie Rugby, Football, Tennis etc, and yet many children learn at them, often wearing more provocative clothing !
