At my office if I put my laptop into sleep mode I have to reboot before it reconnects to the net. Why?

  2. Ask the nice tech guy who works for you.

  3. Control Panel / Power Options / and click on the hibernate tab. if u are a windows user

  4. Because the network card is also powering down. There may be some settings you can change on your machine that keeps the network card in a low power state but it is still enabled. Or you can do what is called a wake-on-LAN, which means that when the laptop is powered up it will resume normal network operations.
