My mom and I are thinking of getting a pet, but don't have much money so we want to find a small pet that is free and comes with shots and stuff.

  1. You must pay but it is a nominal fee because the animal will be spayed or neutered and have its shots. This cost is way below what you would have to pay to get these things done.

Plus you are getting an animal that really really needs you.

  2. im putting this on my watchlist...

wen i was little we got a dog from the animal shelter with the shots and all but we had to pay...

  3. Yes there will be a fee, and papers you will have to sign

  4. The pound is run by the government, and will not keep an animal past a certain short period--usually a week, but sometimes only a few days.  And animal shelter is usually run by a Humane or Rescue group, and they tend to keep the animals longer,  trying to get them a home.

For the most part, they will all charge you for the animals, although usually only for spay/neutering and vaccination costs,  Which is fair, considering that they are out of pocket for that money, and are trying to do their best for the animals in their charge.

Truthfully, if you can't afford $50-$100 initially, you probably can't afford the pet, either.  Even if they're healthy, they still need regular vaccinations, especially if they are indoor/outdoor animals, and meds to prevent stuff like heart-worm, parvo and the like.  Not to mention food.

  5. Pounds cost money for adoption fees. The are usally around 100 dollars. Animal shelters and pounds are the same thing.
