Question:

At risk for diabetes?

My friends girlfriend is almost the exact build as I am. We're the same height (5'8) and usually the same weight (about 180lbs). Recently though, she's put on about 20lbs and the her doctor told her she's obese and at risk for diabetes. My friend thinks that it has something to do with the fact that she eats chocolate ALL the time which is something her and I have in common, lol. This may be a stupid question, but does that mean that I might be at risk for diabetes as well? And since when is 200lbs @ 5'8 obese? At most I thought that was just really overweight?

  1. Check out this BMI (Body Mass Index) calculator which compares height and weight.  It tells you what is normal, overweight, and obese.   http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/healthyw...  A BMI under 18.5 is underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 is normal, 25.0-29.9 is overweight, and over 30 is obese.
