This situation sounds similar to one that I was in. Is he/she possibly trying to have a certain appearance at school versus home? Your friend may want to look more popular, less popular, cooler, smarter, dumber... who knows... and your reputation and personality interferes with it. Because of this, he/she only wants to hang out with you when he/she isn't around others that may judge him/her. If this is the case, then he/she definitely is not a very good friend. It's only my guess on what is going on, so my advice is to definitely talk to your friend before assuming anything. Good luck!

You need to be with people who are going to treat you the same no matter who they are around. You shouldn't waste your time on people who aren't going to treat you with the respect that you deserve. Don't down yourself to make other people happy. If you don't feel like they are being the kind of friend you need then don't deal with them. Go find people who actually think about your feelings instead of just their own.

Sounds like your friend is kinda embarrased to be your friend. Next time you talk to her you need to be honest. Thats what friendship is about. HONESTY! Just tell her how you feel and make sure its nothing or something. But you need to find out what kind of friend you have.
