i made intnl calls fron my residential land line and at&t charged about $6.00 per minute. i was told that i had not taken international plan and hence i was chrged at premium rates. intnal charges with the plan is about 33 cents per minutes. i think that the charge of $6.00 as against 33 cents is highly unresonable. please advice if i can appeal for this anywhere and how.

  1. Report them to the Better Business Bureau - BBB for poor business practices and not resolving customer complaints.

    Then:

Use Yak.com to make your long distance calls.

They are a "dial-around" long distance service.

Yak only charges 5 cent/min to all USA/Canada calls from your regular home phone.

You do not sign up for anything... No Contracts, No gimmicks.

    Just dial 1010-925  (1010YAK).

At the prompt dial your long distance number as usual: 1-(area code)(phone number)

You will only be charged 5 cent/min for calls.  The charges will show up on your regular phone company phone bill.

No applications, no charge cards, no nothing... just dial 1010YAK.

I used Yak before I started using VoIP for my long distance calling to USA from Canada.  It is convenient and no hastle with changing long distance carriers... charges just show up on your regular monthly phone bill.... can't go wrong.

  2. AT&T sucks big-time!!

  3. I agree it is pricey, but if you didn't originally accept an international plan, you kinda screwed yourself. I would try to cut a deal with them, tell them you will add the international plan if they will back date it for the previous bill.
