At&t gps question.?

i going to get the xperia x1 when it is released. ive heard at&t was going to pick it up and i want to use different gps software other than what at&t offers. if i were to a phone with gps like the x1, will at&t be able to disable the gps feature if i dont get use their gps service? im mainly asking those with the att tilt.

I have the tilt and use google maps or windows live search both are free and can use the internal gps but they do use data to download the maps so you will have to have a data plan .They wont give you voice  commands like the telenav program. They will give you a map or aerial view  and onscreen directions to where you want to go.You don,t have to use the gps if you don't want to and you do not have to use the telenav software they send with it.
