    Finland and Poland became independent after the Russian Revolution, Romania took part of Bessarabia - modern Moldova.

    Finland and parts of Poland were part of the Russian empire that both won independence after World War I.  Germany and Austria-Hungary also lost territory to form the new Polish state.  Romania expanded into Bukovina.  Czechoslovakia was constittued out of lands from Austria-Hungary.
