Maybe it would have been better, but every movie has to go out with a big bang and it just wouldn't have been as big of an impact.....plus the meaning behind her dropping it into the water was to give something back to the Titanic and those who died in the water, if you recall she lost the love of her life to the ocean.

I, believe she should of gave the necklace to her grandaughter for taking care of her and pushing her every where around in her wheelchair! Imagine, if the grandaughter saw her throw that expensive necklace in the ocean! Her, grandaughter would of said thanks alot, ungratefull and pushed her in the ocean too! llol!!!!!

Funny, I always thought that, too. A woman's heart may be an ocean of secrets, but hers was a pit of selfishness also.

I can understand hanging on to an inanimate object for the sake of nostalgia, but then she could have helped thousands of starving artists like Jack, find their way. That bit of the movie ruined Rose for me.

i actually love the end because she gives the necklace to jack to be with him forever... so that she would be with him forever i shud say and the scenes with the necklace in it... where they put it in his pocket!!!! that way they can be together down there!!!
