At the end of the year, do I have to enter unused scholarships on my 1099-misc?

This December, I anticipate $3000 of my scholarships will go to my savings account, gas fund, etc....

  1. Any scholarship money you receive over and above the cost of tuition, fees and books (and some supplies) will need to be reported on your tax form for that year.  Check out the IRS publication 970 and  publication 17.  Or go to:  http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/taxab... which is a great site that summarized the taxibility of scholarships.
