Question:

At the plate?

I've been having some trouble at the plate. When the pitcher is starting to wind up, is that when I should start my swing or shifting all my weight on my back foot or what ? Any advice is appreciated. I don't think my question was very clear, but I think you know what I'm talking about.

  1. when the ball is halfway to the plate, start your swing

  2. as soon as the pitcher realeases the ball, stride and wait for the ball. always think fastball and adjust to the breaking ball

  3. welcome to my world

Start right when he relases the ball

  4. your too far ahead i myself have had this problem many times. you get 2 anxious or distracted or what not but what u need 2 do is relax and shift the majority of ur weight onto ur backfoot b4 he is winding up. wen he begins jus stay relaxed keeep ur head down on ur shoulder and look at  his cap and wait for his arm to come up and watch the ball by now begin taking a SMALL step forward without shifting the weigh. Begin ur swing and keep ur head down onece u make contact ur back leg should be bent down a lil ur stomach facing the pitched and the front leck locked up. follow through high with the hands and u should only shift ur weight MINIMAL at all during the bat if u lean forwars u get off balance and swing early.

  5. what i do is i shift all my weight to begin with and when the pitcher lifts his leg i shift my weight to my front foot by using the stride

  6. As soon as you get a sense of how he pitches, watch for the time whne the ball first become detached from his fingers.  By this time you should already be moving your body.  As the ball is in the air, make a quick judgement of what type of pitch it mite be and hte location.  If its a decent strike swing away.

Working in a batting cage will help you too.

  7. release of the ball
