Do kids feel more comfortable with doctors of the same gender or that doesn't matter?

  1. Each child is different and I believe a child shoudl also decide when they don't want or need a parent in the room anymore. Normally around 10-13 they decide this.

As for the s*x of the doctor, that is up to them as well. Some know it is a doctor and they mean them no harm others feel funny talking about certain things to someone of the opposite s*x.

  2. Depends on the state. Where I live they can see a doctor alone without the parents even knowing as soon as they have a period so they can get birth control.

I had my first visit at 17, when I became sexually active. I was alone and scared. Since then, I refuse to go in alone. I always have a friend, relative and now I just have my hubby go with me. It just makes me feel better.

  3. I feel they should allowed to go in alone at any age they feel comfortable doing so. The doctor can always ask to have a word with the parents separately if they feel it is necessary; like say the kid said they were suffering from depression they might need to ask the parents has he/she been acting differently.

As for the same gender thing, it really depends on the person. I imagine many don't care. For me it depends on the problem-if it was anything that I'd have to be somewhat naked for, I much rather see a male doctor. But then again I'm not a kid.

  4. well it depends on how mature they r, because there are 14 15 yr olds that go to teen clinics with out parents soo with permission from mom, 16 same gender!

  5. 16

    same gender
