My 10 month old doesn't want formula anymore since she discovered milk that my 8 year old let her try. Can I safely switch her?

  1. yes you can, but do it gradually.

  2. Would be best to wait till she is a year old

  3. you should wait till they are 1.. i would talk to the doctor

  4. Shouldn't switch 'til she's one.

  5. most docs say around age 1.

about that time their tummies are ready to break down the cow's milk acids ... more developed and such.

check with your dr before you switch .. you probably could at 10 months.

  6. My pediatrician suggested 9 months.  So, you should be fine.  Do it gradually.  Put 2 oz. of milk in the bottle and then 6 oz. of formula.  Do a few bottles like that, then put 4 oz & 4 oz.  etc.....

  7. Not until one year of age. Talk to your pediatrician.

  8. A baby's digestive system is usually ready at nine to ten months, although people will tell you to wait until her first birthday just to be sure.  My father used to watch my daughter while I worked, and at nine months, he would give her milk bottles.  At first I freaked, but she had no physical effects, and she seemed to enjoy the actual milk a lot more than formula.  Your baby should be perfectly fine with milk.  Just make sure it is whole milk, because babies need the calories.

And think of all the money you'll save! :)

  9. my daughter was the same way.  so I gave her half formula and half whole milk.   THat was when she was between 10 and 11 months old

  10. At least one year.  It causes to many problems before then.

  11. 12months

  12. I think it's one of those "depends on your child" situations.  With things like this, I dont pay attention to what other parents and children do because every child grows differently.  IF your daughter didn't get fussy with that milk or any bad side effects of it, I'd say it's safe to slowly change over.  My mother switched both my sister and I at 10 months and she never had a problem.  But if you start switching and she starts getting sick or extremely fussy then I would stop.

  13. Doctor's say not until 12 months, but the main reason for this is they need iron in the formula that's not in cow's milk, and they can develop anemia if they don't get the iron.  If you are giving her multivitamins daily that contain iron and she eats a balanced diet, I don't see why you can't go ahead and switch now.  Just make sure you give her whole milk because she needs the fat, and make it a gradual transition to make sure it doesn't upset her tummy.

  14. It really depends on how she's eating.  If she's getting a lot of nutrition from the foods she eats, it may be okay.  But you have to make sure she's eating enough solids to cover the nutrients she will be missing from not having formula.
