At what age should I call the vet to have a male horse fixed?

  1. Some people geld their horses before they are weaned to make the process easier.  So at about 6 months.  Ask your vet.

As soon as both testicles are present in the s*****m.  As far as price, depends on your area.  My vet charges $85 for an uncomplicated castration on a weanling or yearling or small pony.  Plus trip fee, plus a tetanus toxoid if the horse is not current on his vaccinations.  Price is a bit higher on a mature horse, and if there are complications, as in a cryptorchid, then the cost can be substantially higher.
