I have 3 little ones 5 weeks old friday and want to get them fixed before they get new homes. Its all ready bad enough I didn't get my lady fixed in time so I felt it best to send her babies to new homes all ready fixed.

  1. to be safe 6 months!

  2. You are looking in the right direction, to make sure they are fixed.  A lot will depend on the skill of the vet.  For males, it is really just a snip-snip operation, and minor.  For females, it is a regular operation, and not minor.  A rough guideline some vets use is at least 4 pounds weight.  That will normally be around the three month point.

However, there are many groups that don't want to take a chance that the kitten they adopted out actually gets fixed, so vets can do it very young.  You simply have to call around.

If you are concerned that the new adoptees will not fix them, you can put it into an agreement that you will take back the kitten at the appropriate time and have it fixed, and then return the kitten to them.

I got my kittens from a rescue group, and the signed agreement had a time certain by which they had to be fixed.  In doing so, I was eligible for a rebate on the adoption fee.  I chose, however, to decline the rebate and made it a donation to the group, when I sent them the proof of spaying.

  3. The minimum isn't an age, it's a weight.  2 pounds.  But different vets have different rules, some prefer not to fix them that young/small, so you'll have to call around.

It's a bit tougher for vets to fix them when they're so tiny but the little kittens actually recover faster.

Cheers to you for getting them fixed before they leave!

  4. I take my kittens to spay oklahoma and they will do it any time. I like to wait until they are two pounds in weight so if they go off they food it won't hurt them.

  5. 6 months!!

  6. 6 months at the earliest..If in doubt consult a vet via phone

  7. I know a lot of shelter will fix kittens pretty young.  However, my vet refused to fix my kittens until 5 months and may breeders suggest not fixing them before then.

  8. Some vets spay/ neuter at a very young age.  You will have to call around in your area and find one who does kittens.

Many of them won't do them until they are several months old.

The way I have done it is to charge the person when they pick up the cat and then give them a gift certificate to the vet... (for spay / neutering only)

  9. 10weeks

  10. You will have to wait until they are 10 weeks old.
