Question:

At what age can you remove a baby cockatiel from its parenents?

I am getting a baby cockatiel from my dad and my step mom but we are not totally sure on what age i can take them off of their hands does any one know

  1. it really depends.   Are you going to hand raise the bird your self or is it going to be parent raised?  If it is going to be hand raised then between 14 and 21 days is ideal any later and the bird will have bonded to the other birds and never be truly tame.  If parent raised I think it will be about 6 to 8 weeks and it should be fledged and picking at the food enough to be taken from the parents just keep in mind that all birds have their own schedule for this.
