What age can you start driving in KANSAS!!!!! I want to know bc everybody keeps telling me different things. HELP!!

  1. From the Kansas Driving Handbook (page 3):

    AGE REQUIREMENTS

    Driver Licenses

    Commercial Class A, B or C: 18 years of age or older

    Non-Commercial Class A or B: 18 years of age or older

    Non-Commercial Class C: 16 years of age or older

    Must hold a Kansas Class C instruction permit for 6 months

    Non-Commercial Class C (Restricted): 15 years of age, completed driver’s education, complete(d 25 of the) 50 hours of practice driving while accompanied by an adult, 21 years of age or older, 10 of those hours at night.

    Non-Commercial Class C (Farm Permit): 14 or 15 years of age

    Class M: 16 years of age or older

    Must hold a Kansas Class M instruction permit for 6 months

    Class M (Restricted): 15 years of age, completed motorcycle driver’s education, complete(d 25 of the) 50 hours of practice driving while accompanied by an adult, 21 years of age or older, 10 of those hours at night.

    Instruction Permits

    Class C or M Instruction Permit: 14 years of age or older

    Non-Commercial Class A or B Instruction Permit: 18 years of age or older

    Commercial Instruction Permit (any class) 18 years of age or older


  2. I live in Topeka, and you can get your restricted at 15 (so you can drive to and from school and work, or elsewhere with a family member, or someone over 21 in the car with you) and you get your full license at 16.

    By the way, I would recommend going to Driver's Ed because they give you a slip that you can take down to the DMV and you don't have to take the driving test to get your license.
