My son is going to be 10 months old in a few days and I was wondering when I can start giving him table food? Right now, he's on stage three food and I've given him watermelon (which he loves) and small pieces of bread here and there but I want to introduce him to some other foods. When is a good time to do this and what should I give him? Thank you.

  1. Actually, you could have started him on table food at 6 months. Some parents avoid the jarred purees altogether and start baby on whatever (healthy) foods they are eating.

My (almost) 8 month old love chunks of fruits and vegetables, rice, bread and pasta. As soon as baby can self feed it is fine to offer any of those things. Even spice is fine.

Try steamed broccoli sprinkled with some garlic powder. No need to even cut it up, baby will use the stalk as a handle and nibble on the leaves. Penne pasta with homemade tomato sauce is also an easy one to self feed.

  2. My friend has a son that just turned 1 yr old 2 weeks ago and she's been feeding him table food for 3 months now. That boy loves everything too! Eggs w/ cheese. potatoes, fries. burger, chicken, bananas, you name it he'll eat it.

  3. Take cues from your child. My daughter was solely on table foods by 9 months. Refused baby foods and gagged on stage 3, she couldn't get used to chunks inside of the mushy muck of baby food. But was handling all sorts of soft table foods just fine. I say, let them see the chunks before they put it in their mouths so they know what to expect.

She liked any type of noodles, soft cooked veggies, breads...basically anything soft.

  4. my baby is 11 months old and her lil' fat butt will eat any d**n thing!  I usually give her bananas, also she loves when i cook macaroni with sauce...i just put it on her high chair table and she will eat it herself.  I cut up hot dogs into really tiny pieces and she loves those.  Macaroni and cheese.  I also buy her the graham cracker sticks and the gerber fruit puffs and she loves those too.  i fed her some eggs last week and she liked those too.  She also likes those little vienna sausages (ewww). And she absolutelt loves tuna fish...i was eating a tuna sandwich and she kept reaching for it so i started giving her small pieces and man i swear she ate the whole d**n sandwich!!  i have been giving her table food for about a month now, so u should be fine.

  5. my son was about 1 months when we started him mashed potatoes and biscuits and gravy . we slowly added differnt foods , soft eggs , cantalope, watermelon . now he's 15 monthsold and eats what we eat (without all the seasonings ) and loves every bit of it . he was off baby food at 1 year . he wouldnt touch it once he got a taste of the good stuff

  6. My Daughter started table food at 10 months.  she is 1 now and eats about everything.

    Good luck

  7. Now is a good time to do that.  Always keep a close eye on your child when introducing foods or textures he hasn't had yet.  Around 10 months we started to try to give our son the same meals as we were eating (to a certain extent).  Our son loved chicken breast (cut up into small pieces), my homemade meatballs, fresh pineapple, grapes cut in half (although the peel gave him bad diaper rash, so even now we still peel them), he also really loved my roasted potato (new potatoes cut into quarters and roasted with a little olive oil).

  8. hes good to go. mine was eating my food with me since 8.5 months or so. every baby is different though. yea mine loves bread too. i would now try stuff like cooked vegetables cause its easier to 'chew' on. try little noodles with cheese on them. try small pieces of fresh fruits. try little cheerios. and my mind went blank, cant think of anymore!

But you can give him safe stuff to hold on to and feed himself, my son loves that. its messier but he's gotta learn eventually !

have fun. and just always be by his side incase he chokes.

    good luck.

  9. When my kids were able to pick up food and put it to their mouths I started table food (around 7-8 months) Nothing too hard to chew, usually green beans, cooked carrots , bananas (cut up in very small pieces), cheerios, cooked beets, scrambled eggs, etc.. I didn't give them corn or peas though until they had teeth, because of the skins. My daughter was 1 before we stopped giving her any baby food, but my son was eating everything we ate by 10 months (he was the second child). I just made sure to watch them for a while so they didn't stuff their mouths, and everything was cut bite size.

  10. He's probably ready...if he's tried most beginning foods and is interested in eating what you eat, go ahead and give it to him.  He's certainly old enough and just be sure to not give him the highly allergenic stuff like peanuts, citrus, egg whites, etc.

  11. First and foremost you can discuss new food options with your baby's pediatrician simply as you may know about any allergies if any that may exist.  So its hard to say what specific foods could be good for your baby.

However in a general sense it seems that your baby has been already eating some table yummies.

Typically some great table foods for beginners could be:

    peas, diced carrots

    plain pasta,noodles, boiled rice

    mashed potatoes

fruits: soft fruits that are diced: peaches, kiwi, banana, pears, papaya -

    meats: boiled chicken

    yogurt

Some foods that you may want to stay away from that can cause allergies:

Although your baby can be allergic to anything here are a  few triggers:

    eggs

    whole milk

    peanuts/walnuts,cashews

    fish: shell fish,tuna,salmon, raw fish/sushi

  13. anything he wont choke is good to go . and stuff he will choke just mash them up a little .My daughter has never eaten jarred food , we always made her food at home .. she  is 14 months now and eats pretty everything we eat now . when she was little i used a blender to make all her food . so yeah you can give your baby anything you want and eat .  , also let him touch , feel it and put it in his mouth . if he spits something out , still try for three times before letting it go .

My friend has a son who is now a year and can even eat besides those jarred foods , he only takes soft mashed food and bottles. i try giving him watermelon ,oranges and other fruits. he spits them out . anything solid comes out . not even baby carckers or puffs . not the brightest thing to do at 12 months .
