  1. you can teach babies to swim at any age, earlier the better,

  2. i was told i could take my son in swimming pool from 6 weeks old, i never did and wish i had now. he is 5 and hates the water

  3. WELL I TOOK MY BABY WHEN HE WAS 9 MONTHS AND HE REALLY ENJOYED.

  4. I'd wait until the baby can hold his head up by himself. He is really young and his body is still trying to regulate it's temperature. We started swimming lessons at 5 months and she did great. Also when the time comes make sure the water isn't too cold. But for now I wouldn't do it. Too young in my opinion.

  5. I have taken all my kids swimming at the beach from one month on.  Swimming pools I generally wait until they are 6 months or so just because of the harsh chemicals.

  6. I'd advise waiting until after the third set of injections - swimming pools are an ideal place to spread germs and illness.

  7. It depends on whether you are talking about a public pool or private (and whether other kids swim in that pool).  I agree that waiting until the third set of injections is probably safest, but check with your pediatrician!  My twins are starting swim lessons at 6 months though since we have our own pool.

  8. My baby is 14 weeks old and we have been taking her to the swimming baths for around 2 weeks now. She seems to really enjoy being in the water but I don't stay in with her for too long as she gets quite cold. I would advise taking 2 towels - one to have at the poolside and one to dry your baby with. My baby cries if she's cold and I've found carrying her back to the changing rooms wrapped in a towel and then using the other one to dry her with has helped alot. My health visitor said that there was no need to wait until she had all her injections. We waited until she was 12 weeks as it was purely me not feeling confident enough to take her before then.

  9. I would say that you can take him now. There are no rules in the pool that I take my kids. The sooner the better. He's going to be a real water babe!

  10. check with the pool. there is an old fashioned belief that you cant take them till they have had their injections but this is to prevent polio which does not occur in swimming pools these days anyway. BUt saying this some pools still request you wait. Mine said 4 months old, but didn't mention injections so on the dot of 4 months I took him, even though he was still to get his last set of jabs.

  11. there are a lot of people that take the baby as soon as they are born as they have a natural instinct to swim

  12. My 12 week old niece went for the first time at about 8/9 weeks

  13. Our oldest son is three, and absolutely loves the water. We first put him in the pool at around eight weeks, but the chemicals in the water irritated his skin. So, we waited until he was about 10 months before we tried again.

  14. I put my baby into a pool when she was about 2 months.  Just make sure the water is warm (and it is warm when she gets out) and I would bathe her after to get the chlorine off her skin.

  15. wait until your babies had the 3rd injections basically if your baby picked something up from the pool then his/her body will take longer to get rid of it. Jess xx
