My child of 8 years had been refused the Braces because she is a thumb sucker and Dentist wants to wait until she is 10 to put braces on. Meanwhile my daughter must break the habit so to give change to her teeth to straighten. Is this correct? why wait until she is 10?

  1. find a new dentest if you want them now...sound like baby teeth anyway

  2. Whenever all the baby teeth are out.  I have braces and I'm still a thumb-sucker--- I'm also 14 years old.

Braces for 3 years exactly, so since I was 11.

I know people who had them at age six.  That's a little ridiculous.

  3. I went through braces with 2 daughters.  We waited until their dentist said their 13 Year Molars had come in, and both of them wore braces for 3 years.  A friend of mine did it much earlier with her child and is now going back to do more.  I think she did it too early.  Sometimes orthodontists are looking at how much money they can get out of you.

  4. Listen to your doctor, they are the ones who know your situation, on YA they are only guessing. You are paying for his expertise.

  5. Because her teeth need to mature, I have friends that are going into grade 8, and they got braces in grade3 and still have them cause there teeth didnt mature. and a way to get your daughter to stop sucking her thumb put a sock on her hand at night.
