  1. My son is 10 1/2 months old and says 'mama', 'dada', 'tink ooohh' for thank you, 'baba' for his Aunt Bonita, dog, 'gaga' for grandma, and nana on a regular basis....we've heard him say duck once and cow twice but of course he won't repeat it....you've just got to remember that all kids are different..she'll talk when she's ready. ;)

  2. at 8 months my son started talked a lot like ma, da-da, make all different noise.

  3. It seems as though my kids were born talking, but they're 16 yrs and 11 yrs now, so it's been a long time.

I had to reference their baby books to know for sure, my older one was saying meaningful things when she was about 9 months old, and using short sentences by the time she was 1.  My boy was about 11 months when he started taking off and a  bit over a year when he started speaking in short sentences.

Make sure you write everything down, because you'll forget.  You think you won't, but it happens to all of us, especially when the chaos of teenagers begin.

  4. 1- around 14 months (he was a quiet child, first word was Daddy clear as a bell)

#2- around 10 months (said Ma Ma and Ki Ki *which was kitty*)

#3- around 12-13 months (said Daaaa eeee, her word for Daddy)

#4- only 10 months and no real words just sounds, Mmmma, Daaa. Laaa, Baaa..etc.

  5. Three of my four children had said about 2-5 words by their 1st birthday that they understood and got to 50 words by 1 1/2 or so.  My other child didn't even say his first word until 16 months, and had only a 5 word vocabulary at his 2nd birthday.  Nothing wrong with him.  He understood us, good hearing, responded to instructions, etc, just didn't want to talk.  He really took of between his 2nd and 3rd birthdays.

    Your niece sounds perfectly normal.

  6. 5 1/2 months he said, 'ma-ma' but had no idea what it meant.

Shortly after he said, 'da-da' and actually referred to his daddy (because he would look at him when he said it.)

Then at 10 months he started saying 'DUDE' and 'teek-a-doo!' for 'Peek-a-Boo.'

Now, he just turned 1 (two weeks ago) and can say, 'mama', 'dada', 'thank-you', 'uh-oh!', 'no', 'duuude', 'what', 'peek-a-boo', 'guy guy' for 'bye bye' and blow kisses.

..and he can count to TWO! =]

I say, 'ONE' and  he says, 'TWO.'

  7. my son started saying mum at 9mths.

he didn't start saying other words like dada, and baba, until a year old.

he can repeat short phrases, and has occasionally said something new, but it wouldn't be heard again...

his regular words are mum, daddy, kitty, food, baffoom, 'what do', 'where go' ...short things like that, and other phrases that are very close to the real thing but not quite.

he's 16mths old, alot of this started by 13mths.

  8. at six months old my daughter could say mama and dada but had no idea what it meant. and a few other words baba ect.
