  1. Once you've completed your degree, you can apply any time after that.

People who take the straightforward route usually finish their degrees around the age of 21/22, depending on whether or not they do a 3 or 4 year degree, so if you applied during the final year of your degree and were accepted to do Masters, you would possibly be about 22/23.

  2. I was 23. I then did my Ph.D at 26.

  3. Hi from Australia!

I believe we have similar education systems to the UK- I did my 1st Masters when I was 28.

  4. 22 , first did a degree starting at the age of 18 (for 4 years).

  5. I left it very late! I'm just starting my Doctorate now, in my mid forties!

I had no real motivation earlier, but now I am back in academia as a teacher, it all fits in.

  6. The average student finishes their A Levels at 18 (or Highers at 17 if you're in Scotland).

Many people take a gap year but I suspect the majority still do not.

An undergraduate course in the UK is 3 years, and most people go on to take a Masters course directly upon finishing their bachelors.

Therefore most students in the UK would start a Masters course aged between 21 and 22 (20 and 21 for Scottish students).
