My son is 14 months. My daughter is almost 4. My daughter is potty trained, but I waited until she was almost 3. I want to start off early with my son, but what signs do they give off when they are ready to train?

I know my mother trained us all when we were almost 2, because she didn't want 2 babies in diapers, and it was more conveniant. What do you think though?

  1. My first was ready to train at about 15 months. The second one had to wait till after he turned two (I was teaching and waited for the school year to end).  My daughter is 16 mos. and wants to go potty, but I'm waiting for some things to settle down....

If he can pull his pants on and off, tell you when he's gotta go, and knows when he's wet/yucky, then he's ready.

    Good luck!

  2. my son started potty training when he turned 2 there were no signs he was ready i made him ready of course that made it harder, but i got the job done

  3. I started potty training my daughter at 18 months but she was very interested in the potty and wanted to me like me and her daddy and older brother. She loves using her potty.

  4. 2 1/2

    :)

  5. My son was actually harder to potty train than my daughter. When he is ready he will start showing signs. He'll be dry after bed/naps. Our son was 3 1/2. Then his brother was almost 3. Our daughter was 2 1/2. It will be harder for you if you try to do it before he's ready. Good luck.

  6. i introduced the potty basically as soon as they started walking properly i always had it in the living area and once the nappy was off,and peein started i put her straight on the potty and even the slightest bit of pee in the pot got a whole load of praise, best of luck and dont rush it but certainly start x

  7. I think he is little to start with it, in my opinion you should wait a little more because if he feels the pressure he won't make it and he will take longer to do it. Also whenever your daughter goes to the bathroom, go like, wow very good!! you pee or something like that, so he can notice that it is good and that you will cheer him for doing that and may be he will start  doing the same. Good Luck!!

  8. We just started 2 weeks ago, and he is 25 months old. He didn't really show "signs". One day I just decided that I was going to do it. We stayed at home for 9 days straight! It's really hard no matter when you start, but I think around 2 is good.

  9. I think the best age to start potty training is between the age of 2.5-3yrs.  Off coarse, some children train earlier than others, and when that time comes, the signs are obvious.  However, it is not productive to force a child to potty train before the appropriate time.  Doing so, will waste a lot of your time and often result in having a confused toddler and a frustrated parent.  Give it time, it will come!!  Good luck!
