my son is 15 months old and says words randomly like thank you or sister.. and doesn't say them again. But I know he is saying what he is saying because he uses it in the right context and it is sooo clear.

  1. My daughter said her first words at 5 months, she hasn't quit talking since lol! Now at 3 years 8 months...she has a 3000+ vocab, and 2nd grade comprehension(according to the school personnel, where she will attend). I worked with her avidly. We read to her daily while she was in the womb, and never stopped. Our son is 7 month and is just started the ba-ba, ma-ma ect.

We never used baby talk, and constant told her what was in her enviornment, where we were, who was there, virtually every verbal description at any given time. We do the same with our son. And will with this baby as well.

As for sentances, she was talking in 3-4 word phrases at around 10-12 months.

    * Answered the question...got thumbs down. For what...doing well with my kids, for answering the question, did I forget a comma somewhere in there? Or is it the simple fact, that I dedicated my time and effort to teaching my child, after all...it couldn't be that right....isn't that a parents responsibility?! Whatever, I don't care...and won't be on this site much longer anyhow. Too many ignorant people for my taste thanks.

  2. My son started when he was a couple of months old and my daughter didn't start untill she was 3 years old... So it depends...Don't be in a hurry for him to talk because once he starts you'll wish he would be quiet..lol

  3. 3 or 4 cause thats tha age they get more smart am mature

  4. 26

  5. Sister!

    thank you

  6. Both of my sons were talking before they turned two. However one chose to not speak  for much longer. He's my bookworm now at age 11. Only talks when he feels its beneficial. The other talks for recreation..lol

Your child may just not want to talk. Keep talking to him, reading to him and exposing him. When he's ready to have full conversations you'll know.

  7. i guess 1 or 2

  8. started saying single words just before 12 months

  9. my daughter said her first word at 5 months and she talked alot when she became a year, but hen she is always around her little cousins and i guess she learns from them it helps, now shes learning the alphabet and shes only 2 1/2. so i think its good that your son says words clearly.

  10. yeah... my sister started talking when she was  one

  11. Each child is different! My daughter was about 15 months when she started talking, and my son is almost 2 and hardly says anything.

  12. my nephew is two and just now saying things like that. it depends on teh child, yours can talk but he's just stubborn and doesn't want to. the advice we got that finally made my neph start talking is by not giving him things like a sippy of milk until he asked for it and by getting him to hang out with other kids his age who were talking because they'll want to communicate to kids their own age more then adults. but at 15 months it's not a problem yet

  13. Typical development for 13 to 18 months:

Your child is using one or more words, and he knows what they mean. He'll even practice inflection, raising his tone when asking a question, saying "Up-py?" when he wants to be carried, for example. He's realizing the importance of language as he taps into the power of communicating his needs.

You should talk to your doctor about your concerns.  She would know best.

  14. I was starting to worry bout my boy, then it seemed that soon as he turned 2 he started stringing all those random words together.  Don't worry its very normal.

  15. My son didn't really start gabbing until after he was 2.  I think normal range is really wide, 15 months seems pretty good for understanding and saying single words in context.  I think it would be really fast for a child to be talking a lot @ 15 months.

  16. I would say at 2 my kids all started talking.  It depends on the kid though.

  17. aww yup the same thing started with my daughter :)

she started at 9 months and by about 15 months she wont stop talking, best of luck !

  18. My daughter only said very few words until she was nearly 3!!! We were so worried, but now she's an A+ student in 5th grade, major reader, loves to write, etc. So, don't stress about it at all!!

  19. Between 6 and 10 months babies can form and say words and some use them for association to objects.

Gifted children can start to talk quite early -- before nine months.

The story in our family is that my father didn't talk until he was five and then never stopped!

Now my 2 oldest started forming words at 9 months and three words sentences [talking] by 10 months. Now on the other side, my twins, unknown to me had there own language so i did not know they were saying anything. Thus I say they did not say anything till three years, and they just went into whole sentence in English.

Children who start talking late often begin to speak in complete sentences rather than single words. Of course, knowing that doesn't stop parents from worrying.

But all children should be speaking speaking at twenty-four months, Speaking as in sentences

  20. it really depends generally boys are slower than girls so just be patient.

  21. i started talking at age 1. but that's because my mom talked to me all the time when i was a really tiny baby.
