Question:

At what age do I first shoe my HORSE?

I was hoping to buy a little colt, Hhe's only 2 and a western little guy, but I wasn't sure the age when you're officially supposed to shoe them regularly or put shoes on them at all. Any help?

  1. You can put shoes on him at the age of two. If you are going to be working your horse hard or riding him on the road a lot you should get shoes but if your not then don't worry about! But don't forget to bring the shoer to your house every once in a while! =) So that your horses hoof wont get to long!


  2. well if this is your first horse you should already should know this !

    But I am not hear to tell you that . you should get him shod when your going to be working him on rough ground with rocks

    If your just ground working him on soft ground no need for shoes

    Actually you will never need them if he is trim proper and never worked with rock

    Other then that you can get him shod when ever !

    But really not until you start ridding him hard

    all depends on how his feet are ? in the first place if he has poroerly taken care of Just trim him every eight weeks
