  1. To be on the safe (no pregnancy) side, get them spayed / neutered at about 4 months.  Your vet can tell you if he thinks a different time would work better, but this is an "average" time.

Some kittens mature earlier than others, so the vet is really the one who should have the "say" about when YOUR kittens should be "done".

Thanks for intending to spay / neuter these babies.  Good luck.

  2. as soon as they weigh enough. males can be neutered at 2 pounds, females at 3 to 5 pounds. it will not stunt their growth either. recent studies show that cats differ from dogs in this area. do it as soon as possible as cats can come into heat and get pregnant as early as 5 months old..then that is expensive, not to mention dangerous for kitty!

  3. 5-6 months, many vets won't do them til they are 6 months old.  Some do them at 3 months, I would wait til 6 months.

  4. When I adopted my kittens (one male and one female) the vet told me they should be spayed/neutered at 6 months old; but they were actually spayed/neutered when they were 5 months old because they were big and well-developed. Besides, the male cat was already developing his sexual instincts.

  5. As a professional breeder I spay/neuter all of my animals sold as pets at the age of 12 weeks.

My vet is comfortable with that as long as they weigh at least 2 pounds.

I've known females to go into their first heat at 4 months so be very careful so you don't end up with inbred kittens.

  6. I just adopted kittens in June, and I got them neutered when they were 12 weeks

  7. i know that for puppies it is 4 months and i am pretty sure it is the same for cats but i would ask a local veternairian first because i could be wrong
