At what age do cats begin to mature and calm down?

I have 3 male (neutered) cats all about 1 year old and they are just wild as can be! It seems that they have been tearing up my house for ages now, and I'm just curious as to what age they will begin to mature a bit and perhaps settle down.

  1. They should start winding down a bit around 3 or so years.

  2. I hate to say it but . . . too many cats!  Three's a lot.  Most cats around a year old have begun to calm down a little, although they do have lots of energy.  With three cats they'll play with each other a lot, feeding off each others energy.  You've probably got about a year to a year and a half before they start to act like more normal adult cats.

  3. First of all, 3 is not too many.  I have successfully integrated 8 cats (6 of whom are males) into my house.  Nobody sprays or fights and all is well. All mine seem to settle down at about 2 years old. Sometimes they have energy spurts but generally are pretty peaceful by then.

  4. It's because you have 3 of them.

My cat is 5 and he does nothing at all.

    So about 4 of 5.

  5. In my own experiance of being owned by 14 cats from kittenhood hood on... I'd say at about age 2 they start to settle in. You have at least another year or two of maniacal zooming. :o)

  6. rigt before they die

  7. cats are stoopid
