  1. 20 YRS OLD

  2. Chickens will start laying at about 4-6 months. They need atleast 14 hours of light a day.Chickens may not lay eggs while they are moulting(white flakes falling out).

  3. Usually hens will start to lay at 5-6 months of age. It all depends on there envinorment, health, and breed.

Some hens like to lay durring hte day. They like nice soft bedding in a esting box that is approximatly 2 feet off the ground.

And in a clean envinorment. They need to be given layer when they are -6 months mixed with there scratch feed. You can also give them some Romane lettuce(iceburg is BAD), watermelon, bread, and other fruits and veggies.

Also different breeds are different age of lating so your can go 5 mnths or up to 8.

  4. Lighter breeds (Leghorns and s*x-link pullets) will start laying anywhere from 4-6 months. They are bred for a higher rate of production and to reach sexual maturity faster.

Medium sized breeds (Rhode Island Reds) will start laying around 6-8 months.

Heavier sized breeds (Light Brahma, Orpington, Jersey Giants) can take as long as a year to a year and a half!!! They use the calcium in their bodies to build their body frame.  Then, they concentrate on reproduction.

Meat birds such as Cornish crosses will NOT lay.  They are bred for meat production and not built to produce eggs.  If they do produce eggs, it will be around 6-8 months, but I do not suggest attempting to keep them alive that long.

Show-quality birds can and do take longer to produce eggs.  The breeders want nice large eggs that will be more likely to give a successful hatch rate.

  5. 6 months

  6. Most breed start to lay around 5-7 months and when do its best to give them laying pellets also depends on breed what color you will get and the size of chickens you have for the egg size. Best if can be free roam as well makes great eggs and once they start they will give you one egg a day  and then will lay later as they grow since it takes longer to lay bigger eggs this takes time for egg to develop so every so often the hens will lay later than when they started.

  7. At about 5-7 months, depending on the health of the chicken and the type and amount of food it eats

  8. chickens start to lay around 20 weeks of age, if u got a chicken that is espescially breed for egg laying then you would expect the eggs to come around at 15 weeks of age

if u r not sure how old you chickens are, you cna always observe the combs on thehens head, when they are laying itll go red, not light pinkish whish is probably what it is like right noww.
