I am planning to fly in February and I am taking along my brother who is 3 years old. the site i am going threw lists him as an adult. Will he need a car seat or will they provide one or can he just sit in the seat? I have flown a lot but never with a child. Thank you for all help.

Oh does anyone have any good ideas as to what will keep him busy for the 4 hour flight?

  1. I think 5-100 years old dont need use a car sear before 5 its too early after 100 its too old.

    How old are you?

  2. I have a three year old and I have been on three 12 hour plane rides with him (layovers included) since he was a year old. I have never brought the car seat on the plane - they put it in a bag and send it through as baggage. I'm sure your brother will be fine with some color books, snacks and juice boxes (you can't trust the airlines to have what you need right now), and lately I've come to like a portable dvd player! I also like sticker books, if you think colors would be too messy. Oh, and don't forget books. Also, if he hasn't rode on a plane before, you might not know if his ears are sensitive to the take-off or landing. You might want to give him something to chew during those times to take the pressure off his ears. I hope this helps!

  3. they sit in the seat, anything that's same and quiet should be good for games and things like i spy =)

  4. he probably should have one but it's not essential. he could take his boom box along and crank up the beat, dog.

  5. Contact the airlines.  Each is different.  It usually goes by size over age.

  6. Hmm, I'm not realy sure...but I think it goes by wieght or something. If he's tallish he probably won't need a carseat...but if he's  petite, you'll probably want to bring one(I'm realy small so i rode in a carseat until I was like 7 or something)

But, I do have a good answer to keep him enter tained. Before you leave stop by a dolar store or something and pick up supplies (because 4 hours is a LONG time!) umm, get a coloring book or two and a blank pad of paper (for doodling, playing tic-tac-toe, ...), a small box of crayons(not the big box w/ thesharpener in the back-something more portable), A mini deck of cards (you can play go fish w/ him or solitare by yourself if he dosen't like cards, a travel game or two, some candy or gum, and mabey let him pick out a toy. Then pack it all in a small backpack for him (except the candy...that's for you) Oh, and let him pack a favorite action figure or something...

Anyway, when you get up in the air give him he coloring book and crayons. and when he gets antsy just offere to play a game or go-fish or tic-tac-toe with him or give a couple pieces of candy to keep him busy for a while...

Four hours is a long flight so they'll probaly play some movie or something that he might want to watch too.

  7. I think 2 or under because my nephew was 7months when he got on his first plane and he just sat with my sister. I am not sure thuo.

  8. I think he will probably just sit in the seat. I didn't realize airplanes used carseats at all. I mean, if God forbid the plane goes down, a car seat isn't going to be any help anyways!
