At what age do children start school in Texas?

MY DAUGHTER IS FOUR AND WILL BE FIVE ON SEPT 24TH. WILL SHE BE IN PRE K OR KINDERGARTEN.

  1. In the public schools, you can start at 4 in pre-K  if you qualify (by income or by language, i.e. if the child does not speak very much english).  If you do not qualify then the child starts kinder at age 5.  In private schools, some have programs for children as young as 3.

    Your child might "lose" one year because of her b-day. if you don't qualify to enter pre-K this year you might have to wait until next year to put her in kinder.


  2. Pre-K, you start kindergardten 5, and turn 6. in 1st you start 6 and turn seven. . .and so on.

  3. they can start at 3 or 4.its their choice.or they dont have to go.i know ,i lived in texas for 6 years

  4. Pre-k.  Have to be 5 by Sept. 1 to start kindergarten...unless you ask for special permission.
