At what age do girls lose interest in barbies?!?

Just curious..... I have a 6 year old cousin and was wondering what to get her for a future holiday. when do girls lose interest in barbies and what are some new popular toys out there?!

well it can vary from 12 and up to 14 i had a sindy doll and lost interest at the age of 13 years old. i am now been collecting all types of dolls for over 40 years but .make it into a hobby for her.

well actually i lost my interest in barbies at like 10... but i was even more facinated with Bratz.. they are more mature..:)

but honestly i dont think you are evr to old to play with barbies:)

I never did like barbies as I child.  They are ugly.

It depends on the maturity of the child herself. You have to judge. If she's grateful, any 6 year old will love a doll. Soft adorable things are brilliant no matter how old you are, so maybe you should get her a stuffed animal if you're really stuck.

my 4 year old likes them alright but she loves baby dolls better, like baby borns, baby alive etc A LOT more!

My stepdaughter age 9yrs. old still play her barbies.

6 year olds still love barbies.  My 6 year old also likes littlest pet shop, my little pony, polly pocket, and bratz...but she's not always able to dress the bratz herself because of the tiny clothes and weird shaped dolls, so it's not always kind to the parents to give bratz dolls...that and it takes about half an hour to get a bratz out of its package.  There was one Christmas when I spent the entire morning trying to get the dolls out of the packages for her.

i lost intrest when i was in the middle of 5 grade, when i got diretc tv and gamecube. i luved barbies. when i babysitt, ill still play with the kids, i won't have as much fun, but i like dressing em up and doing their hair when im bored!

my little girl is 10 and still plays with dolls,....but, I have an 8 yr sister who is done with dolls. Go figure.

maybe she might like something artsy, like beads for necklaces or something like that.
