Hi

My new rabbits are 6 weeks old. At what age did you get your rabbits? Is six weeks too young?

  1. All mine have ben eight weeks, six weeks is a little young, but its not life threatening. Basically the extra 2 weeks gives them time to get used to eating grass, greens, carrots, broccoli, etc without the added stress of going to a new home, which can make them ill.

  2. I got my rabbits when I was 11.

    Sorry, couldn't resist...

Anyway, six weeks is when the rabbits can be separated from their mothers because they are usually fully weaned by then, but 8 weeks is the ideal age because then most little bunnies have gained some independance and are happier leaving mum

  3. i breed rabbits and as soon as they were eating on their own not drinking from their mother they are okay to be sold

  4. hi,

separation from mothers happens when baby rabbit have developed fur and begin to depend on rabbit foods like pellets and hay.

and weaning time starts at about 4-5 weeks of age.usually,at this time, rabbits have fully weaned themselves.so at 6 weeks old, rabbits are ready to be given away.

but of course,it depends on the health of the rabbit.if the rabbit,by 4 weeks of age,is still weak and unable to thrive without mother milk, then they should be kept with the mother rabbit longer.

i got my first rabbit when she is about 7 weeks old.but 6 weeks old is okay.no need to worry.as long as the rabbit can now eat pellets, hay and vegetables, and drink water, then your rabbit should be fine.

    good luck!  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚˜Â¼
