  1. Contrary to what "K" said a Persian's coat should NEVER be brushed - it should only be COMBED.  Brushes can break and pull out the top coat hairs.  A good quality steel-toothed comb is all you need to keep a Persian's cat neatly groomed and mat free.  Fully comb your cat at LEAST every other day.

A Persian's adult coat comes in around nine months and isn't really how it will be as an adult until they're at least a year old.

  2. They lose it and grow in adult hair gradually so you may not notice it one day from the next but around 9-11mos old most of the adult hair should be in. Make sure you brush this kind of cat many times a week because their hair gets easily tangled and matted. Use a medium width metal comb to check for knots after brushing. When they lose baby hair and grow adult hair it really needs to be brushed so they lose kitten hair doesn't mat.
