my 6 and half year old daughter has been asking me to buy her deodorant but i was ignoring her thinking she doesn't need it. i bathe her everyday finally she begged me to take a smell and sure enough she had odor under her arms so i made a deal with her to switch bodysoaps to a little stronger one and if that didn't work i'd buy her some deodorant but two showers later with my body-soap at the end of the day she has odor under her arm!what do i do she's only going into the 1st grade i'm afraid if she tells her friends at school they will make fun of her wearing deodorant has anyone you know or have you wore deodorant at that age?please let me know i'm very concerned about this thank you

  1. You are not alone.....My 7year old told me oneday that one of her underarms was musty and that she needed some deordorant...I thought yeah right, what do you know about being musty. She had me smell under her arm and sure enough it was tart. It didn't matter how many times she bathe, when she came home from school she was back musty, so I did decide to by her some deodorant, the teen spirit kind because it's mild and wouldn't irritate her little skin. So now her 6 year old sister wants some too. I bought her a little one as well. And the thing is, they use it faithfully and will have a fit if they forget to put it on. And as far as telling the kids at school, I always say to my girls, whatever happens at home stays at home and they are very good about that.

  2. My mom bought me deodorant when i was 7 and in 2nd grade. I was really sweaty and she said i smelt like i had armpit oder. She bought me some deodorant and said to wear it and to wash my armpits really well when i took a bath.  I am glad she bought it for be because i did smell really bad.  Ask your daughter how she would feel if her friends did make fun of her or if she would tell them.  I told some of my friends and they didn't seem to care much.  Tell her to wear only a small amount on each arm.  I think you should let her wear it and see what happens.
