  1. Calves are most often left with their mother until 400 to 600 pounds. If not taken and sold the mother will kick off the calf just before the next is born in about 10 months.

A calf may be weaned much smaller but will not fair so well without milk suppliment.

A calf should be given mixed feed based on grains and cotton seed meal etc.

Hay alone is not really enough though mostly alfalfa hay would be acceptable though expensive assumeig you do feed some grains.

Hay prices depend upon where you live.

A calf at 1000 pounds consumes about 24 poounds of feed per day or about $3.50 worth when feeding for show.

I would hazard a guess that a small calf will eat about $1.10 worth of feed per day. Again depending upon where you live and what yuo feed.

  2. 'Winged from they'?  What does that mean?

  3. I think it depends on how much they weigh.

  4. Weaned about 6-8 weeks.

IDK how much, but the calf will be an adult by winter.
