  1. They stop 'getting taller' at 12 or 18 months of age. (Normally depending on the breed) then start to 'fill out'. (By this, I mean that they'll 'bulk up', that.s the best way I can explain it.)

  2. A puppy is officially out of puppy once he's over a year.  Whether he thinks he's out of puppy is quite another matter!!!

Fully grown - breed does matter because it differs breed to breed.  In my breed I'd say the frame is usually there by around 8 months but it takes another year or so, in males especially, and depending on the individual line, for them to be fully bodied up.  b*****s mature earlier.

Speak to your breeder if you need information about your particular puppy.

  3. A year or two. They start to interact, chew bones, eat solid food, feed themselves and grow big like my two doggies. My other doggie died at his age of 13. That is why 13 is too old.

  4. 0 ~ 6 months = puppy

    6 ~ 18 months = junior

18+ months = Adult dog (not necessarily a mature dog though)

When a dog is fully grown and muscled depends on the breed. For my breed of choice the Dobermann, it's around 18 months old.

  5. we had a akita we rescued from from people that were going to have her put to sleep just because they could not keep her,,,,,,where there were living.....and within a week we relocated her to a real nice 200 acreage ,,here in new hampshire with a family that rasies and shes really happy there,,and they told us the akita act and still grow physically and mentally till they are 3 years old,,,,hope this helps and enjoy your doggie ~~~~~~~`~~~:)

    best of luck

  6. My husky took almost 18 months also.

  7. I got 2 adult newfoundland one is 7 and the other is 6 1/2 and a 4 month old puppy. A newfoundland matures at 3 years old. An Akita I suspect matures at 18 months or less.
