  1. If your in the right shape and right mind set and your not over 30 i say you can do it no matter what

  2. 85 onwards.

  3. If you look at Bernard Hopkins, it's never too late. You have to seriously think about what boxing means for you. If you are considering it as a fun hobby, turn back now. You have to be prepared to fight all the young fighters who have double or triple the experience. Do you want it more than they do? If not, then turn back now.

  4. Its never to late

  5. Depends on your background in the sport; if you have been sharpening your technique since age 12, but start at 30, and you're strong enough you will likely mop the floor with a few guys, and even become champ.

If however you have only had a year of practice and start at 18, you will be eaten alive by the dude who started since 12.  Although boxing is a gender free zone, this is mostly a guy question so I'll answer it as it has to do with guys.

Men's bone growth stops at 18 to 21, but muscle growth does not stop until the age of 30.  In fact, between the ages of 20 and 30, men will average a natural increase of up to 20 lbs of muscle, the proverbial "filling out" stage.  A man reaches the peak of his physical strength and endurance, at the age of 30 and when you think about it, the best performances from sports stars of all genres, are often at that age.  Boxers in their 30's, generally retire, because just because strength increases, the body still needs to heal damage, which can sap strength.

As a general rule, assuming a man has been exercising and living and eating right for the full decade of the 20's, his strength will peak at 30, level off until he is 50 and after that, no matter what, will slowly and steadily decline, and then plumet outright by the age of 80.  The age defying Frank Hopkins can do what he can do, largely because even though he was not a pro beforehand, he DID have an extensive amateur reccord.  Not only that but because did time in prison, he spent most of his days in prison fighting against hardened criminals.  Compared to the oppositition he faced in prison man, most of the guys he fights are nothing.

I would say, depending on health and background, between 50 and 60, when ageing begins to take effect and becomes more and more noticeable.  Generally in boxing you have to start young because of all the punches absorbed, the long waits between fights, and the earlier and younger you start, the more money you'll accumulate by the time you retire.  If you are talking Chinese boxing, especially, Tai Chi Chuan, then, that's a different story....

    peace out.
