At what age were you permitted to use the stove and did that age seem just right or no?

  1. I think whenever your parents feel you're ready is the best time to begin. I started using the stove at ten.

  2. around the age of 13 but depend on how matcher the kid is. 12 is the youngest i would say.

  3. I remember using it about 4-5.  It was a gas stove that you had to light the pilot light.  I think that was too young, but my mom was an alcoholic and not the most responsible parent.  However, I never got burnt or anything, but I was just lucky.  I think one should be tall enough to not have to use a stool (they could spill the hot stuff on them if it slips.)

  4. I think it depends on the child, but I would say somewhere between 8-10 is when they can start using it. I was using the stove at 8

  5. I think I started using the stove at around 8 or 9 (I think, though I don't really remember) with parental supervision.

At first, my mom or my dad would basically tell me what to do, then gradually I had more control based on how well I was doing.

Eventually my parents were just in the room and I was doing everything else myself, and we decided that I was ready to use the stove on my own.

I don't think that there is necessarily a right age, and I wouldn't start kids off doing things on their own, but really anytime they show an interest and they are tall enough that they won't be trailing their sleeves in the flame, and their faces aren't right at the same level as the food (hot food spatters), you can start letting them help out if they are comfortable with it.

  6. When I was home alone like 11 or 12 with supervision and help from my mom like 5.

  7. I didn't know how to make a grilled cheese until I was 18. Actually, my husband really taught me how to cook when we got together. My parents never let me near anything like that.

My daughter is 10 and I supervise her and teach her to make basic things like grilled cheese, french toast, fried zucchini, scrambled eggs and sausage.

she is not allowed to do it without me watching, though.

I think maybe when she is about 12 or so I will let her give it a shot while I'm in another room.

  8. "Helping".....around 7yrs old......you do anything with hot grease however.

"Doing themselves, unsupervised"......around 12, unless they are very immature for their age.

  9. MY 7 YEAR OLD ALMOST 8 USES THE STOVE TO MAKE CHICKEN AND OTHER THINGS

  10. I was 8 and my 7 year old uses it to make herself grilled cheese sandwiches or to warm soup.

I think that it just depends on how responsible your child is.

Every child is different, mine is very responsible and knows the dangers.

She loves to cook and even cooks for mommy. I am very lucky.

  11. when you are old enough not to burn the house down
