I want to have a steady career before I start thinking about marriage, but my boyfriend keeps asking me what i'd say if he popped the question. my answer is always something along the lines of "not right now, im not ready." we've been dating for 4 years and i love him, but i am not sure if i want to spend the rest of my life with him...yet. any ideas?

  1. I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 25. He's planning on proposing at the end of this school year (when I have my associates & my dad will say "yes"). And we're planning on getting married after I complete my bachelors or before he receives his next duty station (He's a Marine and could be moved in a yr and a half).

If you're not 100% sure you're ready to spend the rest of your life with him and if you're not 100% sure that you're ready to get married - don't.

  2. If your not sure you want to spend the rest of your life with him after 4 years, then you probably really don't want to.  Only get married when you're 100% sure.  The average age for marriage for a female is 29.  I personally feel anytime after 26 and you're ready.  The statistics show that if marriage is put off until this age you will have a greater probability for it lasting.  Do what you want to do, it's your life.  Get you career going and then settle down.  Good Luck!!
