  1. Four years old, or five (depends on the birthday). But four is usual.

  2. Strictly speaking children have to be educated not go to school. It doesn't have to happen at school. Some children are educated at home.

Kids normally join school as 'rising fives' - just before their fifth birthday.

  3. Most schools take children at about 4 (the September nearest their 5th birthday).  But having said that, my cousin's little girl started school a week after her 4th birthday - she was born in late August and the school wanted to keep her with her friends who are a few months older.

  4. Children in UK start school in the September of the year they are going to be 5.  So they start in reception class at 4, but will have their 5th birthday during that scool year.

  5. 4 or 5

  6. 5 or four. Children usually start in the 'Reception' year at 4 years old.

  7. My child started reception at 4 years old, but by law ( i think ) they have to start in the september after their 5th birthday.

  8. Four years old, and they start part time, 9 a.m. to 12.00 noon for the first couple of weeks, in the introductory nursery class, thereafter for normal school times.  Then, at 5 years old, they progress to normal schooling, i.e. reading, writing and arithmetic, etc.

  9. My eldest daughter started at 4 and a half. She started at the Easter and wasnt 5 until the july.

  10. The statutory school age in England and Wales is from 5 years to 16 years

A lot of parents put their children into nursery from 3 years of age

  11. 4 or 5 years old

  12. 4 years if birthday falls before september

  13. A child must be in full time education at age 5 but that doesn't have to be school it can be home education.
